Has anyone figured out a way to secure the cheap cardboard cover that goes over the spare tire in the cargo area? It appears to just lay there and slide around. What a cheap design. The dealer said that is just the way it is.

This has never been brought up before. Never was an issue with mine. Good luck.

I'm just glad there is a spare tire. Is there any room around it to store stuff?

You could get the rubber mat that goes in there. Mite give some weight to hold it down.

And there is very little room for any extra with the spare. I had to take the jumper cable and loop them around the tire to fit

Never really noticed mine. I have a cargo mat down and carry a lot of equipment in the back of my vehicle, so it's never been a problem.

Mine was sliding around too.

I wanted a cargo mat anyway, so this was one more excuse to get one. I got a Husky Weather Beater designed to fit into the cargo well behind the third row. The third row seats can still be stowed too, with it in place. Seems like a good solution.

Depending on what you carry stored, and what size/shape it is, you can fit some items under the spare tire. It is a pain to stow, and of course 2 pains to get out, but it can be done. Also around the outside of the spare tire there is a little gap that can be utilized for the things we 'absolutely have to have' in the car. Like too many others, I carry too much junk, 'just in case,' but I have always done that. Having a pick-up too long was a bad idea maybe?

It's a support for when the third row seats are folded flat. It has to be removed to pull up the spare tire cover. Did you buy the car new or used?

Bought it used last month. I should look it up since I usually run with the third row down. Thanks for the info.

Apparently I am a nitwit Newbie. It was sitting in my Ex where it's supposed to be. It's the same color (black) and texture as the rest of the interior so I never noticed it. I DID notice I'd cuss a little as I had to flex the tire cover in order to get it out (instead of taking that filler piece out). D'uh. I think that "filler" piece is even embossed with SPARE TIRE ACCESS or something like that.

Learning more about my Ex every day. At least I didn't go out and order one before I double checked just now.
