i have a 93 sport i will be using as a prerunner and i want to carry 2 spare tires at first i was thinking to put them in the cargo area but they will take up too much space

and i dont want one hanging off the rear at all

then i thought to put them on the roof ive seen explorer with the tires on the roof before but only one , if i put 2 up there will that be too much weight and make my car want to roll more

any advice on making the mounting strong

maybee i can put one on the roof and one in the cargo area but i really dont want to

CBoug76 made an interior spare tire mount that worked much like the one inside J**p Ch*rok**s. It doesnt interfere with visibility too much and doesnt take up too much space. You might want to try and find that thread and look it over.

2 33 x 12.5's no matter how i mount them they will basically make my cago space useless

figure 4 people 2 guys 2 GIRLS + all their junk for a week + 2 33 x 12.5's + some firewood + an explorer sport = wont work

keep the ideas coming and anyone that has tires on their roof tell me what the center of gravity feels like

when my friend gets a truck that will eliminate 2 people and alot of junk but i still won't want to have 2 spares in the back

or i can get him to bring his Z 71 he has now that would eliminate alot of trouble then he can pull me out of places:D

How about on the hood like a safari vehicle? I always thought that looked cool. Except you will loose a lot of visibility.

Ok I think there's enough room on the roof for 2 tires. Do you have a roof rack? If so, Strap both of the tires side by side on the roof rack. There ya go. Problem solved.

OKAY!!!!! I WANT TO MOUNT THE TIRES ON THE ROOF AND THERE IS DEFINATLY ENOUGH ROOM FOR THEM ALL THAT I WANT TO KNOW IS IF PUTTING ANOTHER 100
+ POUNDS UP THAT HIGH ON MY CAR WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO ROLL??????????? AND IN MY MIND REALLY THRASHING THROUGH THROUGH THE DESERT WILL PULL THE RACKS OFF OR SOMETHING HE DESERT  :nono:  :nono:  :nono:  :nono:  :nono:  :frustrate :frustrate    :fart: :mattmoon: :mattmoon: :nono: :fire:

Yeah, it will make the COG higher. But so does lifting it. So you will just have to always take it into consideration.

Try to cut enough stuff out of the way to be able to mount one of the tires under the vehicle where the stock one goes. I haven't looked into it, but it can probably be done without too much work. Then put the other one in the cargo area.

:frustrate :shoot:
If you try and mount them under your rig side by side or one in front of the other .ya can't really do it i've been looking in to it for about 3months now. Yoy could stack themm on top of each other in the factory spare bay but unless you have a rig that sits 4 to6 ' off the ground you are gonna cut done some clearance in the back, and put the bottom one in jepordy of taking a bad hit. Maybe cutting it or knocking out the bead. I decided that i'm gonna put a spare feul cell in my spare bay and runsome kind of system for a swing gate on the rear.
Maybe mode an old bronco rack or just make one myself

Here ya go:
1. Put a bench in the front and move steering wheel, pedals etc. to the center. Like this you have one chick to your left and one to your right.
2. Attach the other guy to the roof rack; 4 handcalfs should do the trick.
3. You will have enough space for tires and gear in the rear of your vehicle.
Problem solved.

On a serious note: Either pack less stuff, less people, think of just taking one spare and a bottle fix-a-flat or how ever they are called instead, buy a trailer or trade your X for an Excursion.

There are limits to the space of a vehicle, and if you load your X like a mule you will most likely have to change your screen name to "precreeperexp" rather than "prerunexp".

Peace!
