i curently have 32's bfg ATs, my spare is like 4 inches to small, so today i jumped on a great deal and a got a bfg mud terrain for $15, it is a 285/75/16, so it messures out just about an inch bigger than my tires.
according to off road parks, a spare within 1 inch should be fine if need be.

if i absolutley had to , could i use this tire for a short time without damging my stuff? i usually drive around only in 2wd, (brown wire mod). or will i brake stuff.

no one knows anything about this?

Not really sure, but I was told all tires should be the same size if in AWD or 4 wheel drive.

it should be ok if you dont have the diff. with the limited slip, if you have that then there may be an issue

Id look around for another tire, I got 12 ply 265/75 16 for $20 mounted and balanced at a local tire shop. It was a little over 1/3 tread tire. Especially if you have the limited slip rear end, a proper size spare is important. Otherwise if you have a flat on the rear you have to jack up the front and move your good tire to the back and put the spare on the front. It sucks! And my 32" took some work to fit underneath. The 285 may not fit very well if you intend to use your spare hanger.

im not gonna put it underneath, i keep the spare on the roof. what about damage front to back? in the t-case?

well you can always put the spare on the front and drive in 2wd, it will be fine.
I do not think the 1" difference will hurt a limited slip either, or your t case, espeically at slow speeds in dirt for a short distance.

ok, i have no problem with making sure the spare goes in back, i was just worried about if i have a different size from fron to back.
so if im in 2wd, the front wont hurt anything? i have electronic 4wd, but i did the brown wire mod, so the transfer case doesnt get the ground. so is the front not engaged at all?
