I got a flat about a week ago, and when I went to put the spare on I found that it wouldn't fit! I put some new WARN manual hubs on and I guess they are bigger than the OEM automatic hubs. Anyone else run into this problem? If so is there a simple solution or do I have spend some money to get a new rim?

hmmm... that doesnt sound right..... the warn manual hubs are actually what ford used on explorers equipped with manual hubs from the factory..... my spare steel rim fits over my warn manual hubs... my truck originally had the saw blade premium wheels, and autohubs... mine is a 94........ is it possible there is just so much corrosion in your wheel center bore that that is preventing it form fitting?

Yeah, that could be, it was pretty rusted. I'll have to clean it up and try again. I don't want to be stuck on the road like that again. Thanks

Someone may have lost the spare in the past (Those cables get a little salt and water on them and break from corrosion), and replaced it with "some other" steel wheel without checking to see if it fits.

Is it close to a fit, or off by a lot?

Rob

Check it on the rear axle. I think I remember some spares had the wrong center holes for the explorers.

The fit was pretty off, I had about an inch left to go on the hub before it was on all the way.

a lot of times its corrosion on the center hole edge that causes this. Had the same problem, luckily I was changing the tire in my driveway and just too a file to it and was done nice and quick.
