Spdrcer34 is going V8!....

I got it roadworthy today!!!

I had to get the vehicle licensed again....they expired 08/08, Now they are good through 10/10 and I also got the exhaust done today.

I drove it around for a while, even picked up my wife from work in it.

I was amazed by the torque! The on-ramp that we use to get back home from work, I normally get to about 45-50 by the time we hit the dotted line ready to merge into traffic (Speed Limit is 55, just about to drop to 50). And I usually need about another 50 feet or so to get to 55.

But tonight, in the White Explorer.....I made it to 70 before I knew better, and I had to hit the brakes before I even hit the dotted line!

Awesome!

Video. Video.

Heads & Cam are next. I just had to get it IN the Explorer and running before I started to mod it.

I want 400/400 from it, then I'll spray it to get me into the 12's from there.

I'm still in the air about the transmission though. This one shifts PERFECTLY....at about 5k at full throttle....but I REALLY want a manual. But I also REALLY want to spend the money on other things LOL

lol, mine did best topping out about 5600rpm, so actual shift command was probably 5300ish.

I HAVE WIPERS!!!

LOL...

I know, it may seem trivial to some, but I live 14 mi. west of Seattle. And I have been driving around for about a week with no wipers!

I never mounted the motor, because I never got the wiring figured out. 1997 Explorers used 6 wires to their Wiper motors, while the 1992 only used 4. The `92 motor uses an auxillary ground wire that goes to one of the 3 mounting screws. The `97 has 2 different grounds in it's wiring schematic. So I coupled those together, and crimped on a ring terminal. I attached the ring terminal to the same screw that the 1992 factory ground went to. That left me with just 4 wires each.

1992 Wiper: R, W, BL/O, BK/PK
1997 Harness: R, W, BL/O, B

3 wires were obvious, so I soldered them together. Then I took a look at the schematics, and the B from the 1997 went through the same type of timer circuit that BK/PK wire went through in the 1992. So I said 'Here goes nothing'....

I soldered the 1992 conenctor onto the 1997 harness, plugged it in...

AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY!

Hi Speed is Hi Speed, and Slow Intermittent is about 10-15 sec's between pulses....

I'm so happy.

I was also able to use my Factory remote for the door poppers in the Explorer. Now I just hit 'Unlock' on the remote and the drivers door pops open. When I hit Lock, the Passenger Door will open.

Lol. Nice.

I also scored THESE on eBay....

I just need to know how Saleen attached them....I posted on ExX...but due to the lack of traffic, I haven't gotten the answer yet.

Sweet. Does the brake pedal not have machining swirls or is it just the lighting angle?

It's the angle...

They are definitly there.

Latest Update....

I have been having issues with my Factory Keyless Entry not working with the keyfob all of the time. For those not up to Speed, I am using a COMPLETE 1997 Explorer wiring Harness in my 1992. And I use the Unlock feature as the trigger for the Opening Solenoid on the Drivers Door.

I have been searching for a LONG time on ways to add the KeyPad that is NORMALLY on the drivers door, to somewhere on my Vehicle.

I FINALLY found a home for it.

I had to get a SPARE one, and use the heatgun to warm up the plastic to flatten it out in a large enough area to mount the keypad.

Have you changed the battery in the fob yet? My three were all used, and only one needed a battery as yet.

I see you have the 95+ gas tank filler neck(cap).

Why didn't you want it on the door, the keypad? You can use any of the styles, some are painted and some have individual buttons. The Mark VII has a metal housing as another choice, I'm not thrilled with that one.

Yeah, I've changed it 3x since October. No luck. I think the fob has a bad transmitter.

I swapped EVERYTHING from the `97! I like this filler better than the 1st Gen.

I don't like this one much either....but it was free. I will probably swap it out later with a lighted panel. As I can't see anything when it's dark.

Yes trying a new fob would be a good idea next. Cutting the hole in the door wasn't a big problem.

Short lesson about saving money: I did scratch the inner door bottom edge(working on it on the ground), little enough I didn't seal that. Now I have a rusted edge there that rests against the door seal. I need to fix that now, I dealt with the door skin seam rust back then. My LF door is a 91 that was only $650 back when $800 was the norm. It had a little rust and scratched glass, plus later I found that the regulator sticks some. I bought new glass to put in my 98 keeper, which will give me the spare. I'm planning to swap the glass and regulator(bought that too). Did I really save money or time by selecting the $650 door? Night

whats wrong with having the keyless entry pad on the door? You want to use it via gas door every time?

Notice anything missing?

Nevermind the fact that the pic is so old that SINCE that picture was taken, I have added Cobra Brakes, a SunRoof, Added CalVue Mirrors, Painted the Headlamp Trim.....and added a Custom Hood...
