Where can I find the Speaker amp location '92 Explorer XLT, my radio took a crap got a replacement but no sound coming out of speakers I have tested the radio unit with a meter and audio test set, looked under the passenger seat, not there, I had the driver side window motor replaced a while ago, I'm wondering if there may be an AMP located there.....

If you have the premium sound (JBL), the amps are behind the passenger side rear quarter panel. When you look in the back of your Ex, you see the sub on the right. The amps are mounted to the sub enclosure, and it all comes out in one piece. DO NOT try to pry off the speaker grille, you will break it. You have to pull out the little "pops" around interior panel, and pull the whole thing back. It does not have to come out, but it will have to move quite a bit, so make sure you get at least two or three of the screws in the floor under the carpet, and all of the pops near the rear of the vehicle. Be care not to tear your headliner with the corner of the panel when you are pulling it away. You do not have to take the amp/enclosure unit completely out if you don't want to (although it makes a nice place for your aftermarket amps if you add them later), you can just bypass it. Metra makes a wiring harness kit that come with the harnesses for the radio in the dash as well as the harness that just plugs in at the amps to bypass them. It's part number 70-5514, and you should be able to get it at just about any car audio retailer for about $20. It's pretty self-explanitory, unplug amps, plug in harness. It only fits one way. :)

Rear quarter panels passenger side, take them off and it's right there
