Ive got the speed bump squeak's!! Every time i go over a speed bump my truck squeaks like an overused mattress. I know its not the shocks and i know there are some places that could stand a little grease or oil under the truck, i just dont know where they all are.

Can anyone help me resolve my problem?

Spray your sway bar bushings with WD-40 real good, that will stop the noise for "a while". :us:

Yep, that's it.

I lived with this annoyance for many years before I sprayed mine with WD-40. Took about 15 seconds to do, lasted about 1 month so far, starting to squeak again.

I will probably try to find a longer-lasting lubricant. I will tell you that even if I have to spray them monthly to keep them quiet, it is easier than changing out the bushings, IMO.

I haven't had a problem with the ones on the Explorer (yet), but my Durango had creaky swaybar bushings, and I fixed it quite easily. Bought me a needle grease gun adaptor, and pumped synthetic marine-grade wheel bearing grease in between the bar and the bushing with this little needle adaptor. Just jam the needle in there, connect your grease gun to it, and slowly pump the grease in till it comes out. Sometimes it will come all the way thru to the other side, other times, it requires greasing both sides. On the Durango there are 4 bushings up front, and 2 in back. I did all of them, and it never squeaked again after that. I sold it a year later and it was still quiet.

so where are the front bushings located on a 2002 ford explorer

Broken Springs?

I also had a matress-like squeak if I went over my curb faster than 5-10mph, and I couldn't tell if it was coming from the front or rear. My solution was to leave it alone till' something broke, but Merlins found the problem during a free brake inspecion. Both of my rear springs were broken! So I put some new springs on the old struts and the noise went away!

I have never had any bushing/sway bar noise so I can't tell you that's not it either though.

My suggestion would be to have a free inspection done or check it out yourself. The break could be hiding because I had had my wheels off before and never even noticed it! So take your time when checking.

Hope this helps!

I had the squeaks in a 99 sport I used to own, got new shocks all around and it went away...just thought I'd add my experience.

I have had this since I bought mine and I have just put up with it. I put on a new set of front sway bar bushings and it seems to have fixed it. Time will tell but I can not get it to squeak while I drove around and run over things on purpose to see if I could get the squeak.

If the noise is from swaybar bushings you can unclamp them and put a little silicone grease in there between the bar and the bushing. This will usually make them quiet for a few years.

I put some new ployurethene bushings in, figured it would be an upgrade and cure my squeak.

You rich guys and fancy high performance parts that work better...
