First off... GREAT site!!!! Wish I would have found it sooner, I have a list going of all the new things im going to try this weekend.....
Anyway heres my story.....
I changed alternator and battery the other day, the next day my speedometer starting acting up... It works fine at times, but at times it goes completely dead.... I dont know if this is related to the changing of the altenator, but I thought Id mention it... I changed the speed sensor, but that didnt do anything, still having speedo issues... Do you guys think it could be some kind of sensor or relay??? I hate to tear into the dash if im over looking something...
(97 x limited 4x4 120k) Thanks

Maybe a speedo servo?? Is your transmission shifting OK when it is acting up? Where is your speed sensor in the rear end or transfer case? Some 97's were in the T case, others were in the rear end.

Seems to be shifting the same, speed sensor is on transfer case. What and where is a servo? thanks

The gauge cluster is electric, so the speedo motor that moves the needle may be acting up. I'd get a junkyard cluster and swap it out, see if that is your problem, its not too difficult to do. A great vendor on here, kbabiak, usually has whatever people on here need for reasonable prices.
