i am just wondering what you all are doing about the speedo error due to bigger tires or gears. are you all just leaving it alone and guessing your speed or are you all using somesort of recaliber

from what i have read for those tuners they cant reprogram 2nd gen explorers for speedo calibration

they can't, or at least you can't with one. When i get my tires on here in a week or two I am getting another program for my truck, taking into account the tires. I am pretty sure BamaChips can email it to me and I can download it to the XCAL that way. I think.

Not sure on the SCT products, but a Diablosport Predator will definitely let you re-cal your speedo.

really i wonder how they do this when it is set in the abs module

The ABS counts the number of pulses from the tone ring, and the computer translates it into a speed. Change the translation and you change the indicated speed. I've got a Predator and you plug in the wheel revolutions per mile and it alters the tables in the computer.

for real what about if i changed the gear ratio too is it hard to change with that it sound a little more harder than just tire size

Speedo adjustments aren't possible with the xcal2 with the 2nd gen..I asked James to adjust mine and he said it wasn't possible.

It will also take care of gear ratios.

Programmers only will do this if your truck has an electronic speed sensor. For earlier vehicles with a mechanical sensor, you need to change the gear on then end of the speedometer cable to alter the reading.

thats what i thought

do you all know where i can get a diablo i cant find one for an x

Looks like they don't make one for some reason..I just went and checked the site and I don't see one listed. Kind of surprised that there isn't one for the Explorer. I've got one for my Mach 1 and it has worked nicely.

This is disappointing... I'm not really all that worried about the speedo though, should only be off by like 5-8% with 32s, so not much of an error unless I am somehow going like 200mph. My main concern is the shift points for the tranny being off with the larger tires.

i talked to james from henson performance today and he say he would have not problem recalibrating my speedo with xcal3 it wierd im getting different answers from everywhere but i guess if he is doing the programming for these units he must be right

maybe you can with the xcal3, I have the xcal 2 though. guess i'll just shoot off an email and ask for myself.
