Sport trac differnt intake

2004 sport trac , why a diffent intake then the regular explorer 4.0??

The 04+ sohc engines have a different intake Plenum they changed the design and it is better imo
You can access the thermostat housing and the drivers timing tensioner without removing it
The old intake had two parts and a “power valve” they did away with all that and simplified things

Ok thanks, now I need to swap a motor into it, can I use the explorer setup 03 motor
Or just swap the intake ?

Whenever I swap in an engine from a different year I use only the block and heads. I would use all intakes plumbing wiring sensors injectors and accessories from your original engine

Park both engines next to each other and compare each part

Yes use the 04 intake
