Sport Trac won't run

I have a 2001 Sport Trac with 85,000 miles. We were on the hy-way and it all the sudden lost power, and then died. My wife thought she heard a noise
when this happened. It would run long enouph to load it on the trailer, but now it will only run for a few seconds.
I have checked fuel pressure, compression, and everything else I could think of. I think it has jumped timing, and after reading the forums, I wonder if the tensioner didn't go bad.
If anybody has any ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to this forum! Did you check to see if there is a check engine light? If not, you might have a bad relay which doesn't let the computer turn on. The fuel pump also has a relay, but if the computer doesn't turn on, the fuel pump won't turn on either. Have you checked all of the fuses, and ground connections?

Yes the check engine light is on. It has 57#fuel pressure, spark at every cylinder, but the plugs are fouled and I replaced the plugs. It backfires when it does run.

Did you check the alignment of the crankshaft, and camshaft position sensors? OTC sells them. Scan the computer to see if a code is stored.
