To you guys out there that may know, I was wondering about sprin-under and spring over rear axles. On smaller pickups and SUV's the rear suspension is spring under while larger pickups, bronco II's and some rangers are spring-over. What are the benifits to each? Is there a reason it is done differently on different vehicles? Just curious, thanks for answering!

over means same leaf spring will hold it further away from the wheels...

under is normally done for better ride

Thanks Jim!:)

Spring over advantages: cheap lift (reuse leaf springs), better clearance under axle.
Disadvantages, increased potential for axle wrap and wheel hop.

Spring under disadvantage: new springs are required for lift.

I am sure there are more.
