I might be buying my Dad's '91 Explorer Sport, but I'd like to give it a spring-over in the rear & maybe taller (?) coil springs in the front. Probably a 3-4" lift in all. So what are the ins & outs? Anything that poses a major problem (driveshaft angle, etc.)?

Going spring-over will give you 5.5-6 inches of lift in the rear. If you only want 3-4 inches then you'd better forget the spring-over conversion.

OK, so it'll give about 5" of lift; is there an FAQ on this, or a tech section? What are the driveline mods? Will raising the center of gravity this much cause A LOT of unbalance, handling problems?

hey george, it will give a full 5.5 at least if not 6" + - 1/4 or 1/2 depending on the spring perch you use, i am using a spring over on my rear and yes 6" will cause a considerable change in height center of gravity. adjust tire and wheel width accordingly, you're better off if you dont want to go more than 4" to get a 4" kit if you can handle 5.5" then get superlifts 5.5 " kit for the front end. brackets and coils then think alignment brakes.... little things. drivelines shouldn't need lengthening ... based on lwb a sport might have driveshaft woes. hope some of this helps.
