We only got flurries with no accumulation here. The windstorm lasted for 12 hours and had gusts of up to 50mph.

I read where you had to spend the night in Iowa on your trek home from JT's due to snow. I'm glad you made it back ok.

As those of you that have been keeping up with this know, my CMP Synchronizer didn't make the usual bird chirping noise while the engine was running. In fact, my noise was so drastically different from those found in videos on YouTube and here on the forum, that some people even thought I might have bad camshaft or crankshaft bearings. I wasn't totally convinced otherwise either. To make things even more unbelievable, my noise only occurred in a certain RPM range whereas everyone else's noise was constant.

Watch the video below. It's the camshaft synchronizer that I pulled out and it sounds nothing like other video evidence documented here on EF. Mine produces a much harsher sound. Hopefully, this will save some headache for someone else. I ended up not fixing mine for over a week because I was unsure as to whether or not the CMP was the problem.

Excellent post. You saved me about a dozed headaches. My noise is the exact same harsh, screeching noise but it happens for a longer duration than did yours. Mine especially hits when going uphill or when there is a load (or RPMs, I haven't really tested that yet). Check engine light indicates CMP sensor, but that was replaced. If I were a betting man (and I am from Nevada!!), I'd be willing to bet it is the synchro. Great pics, great post!

I'll let you all know if mine is fixed as well once the synchro is replaced.
:salute:

Good luck. Reading all of the threads about replacing the synchronizer make it seem a lot more intimidating than it should be. It's really a fairly simple and straight forward project.
