This has been going on for a while but I'm finally getting fed up with it. Some time ago I replaced my upper control arms because the ball joint portion was worn out. I replaced with some parts out of the junk yard. Afterward I had terrible squeaking out of the front end. I have tried re greasing which worked temporarily but ultimately did not solve the problem. I am not sure if I just got a bad set of control arms. One thing to note is that the bushings have a metal washer on either side. I am certain that this metal on metal contact is causing the noise. Is there perhaps a set that has just a straight poly bushing?

Given the age of our trucks, bushings dry out and squeak. You would have been better off with new components from your local auto parts store.

Do you think it's the rubber portion of the bushings then and not the metal on metal?

Either you replaced old dried out bushings with old dried out junk yard bushings, or you didn't replace the part that was squeaking. Do more diagnosing, and isolate where the squeak is .

I'd be fairly confident I replaced with old junk yard bushings considering that the squeak was nonexistent until I replaced the arms.

These are what I ordered from Rockauto.com. I have the 1 piece design on the right side, but the 2 pc. is avail. for about the same price. New rubber, new B J, new arm . I haven't installed them yet, weather's been horrible :thumbdwn:.

MOOG Part # RK80068 R-Series
Front Right Upper B
$39.79
MOOG Part # RK8708 R-Series
Front Left Upper B
$37.79

That's cheap, half as much as the ones they have at Advance and MOOG is good stuff too. Let us know how it goes?

I don't know what you paid for used ones, but around here there aren't but 2 or 3 J Y's and they want top $$$ for used parts. I've just been ordering new stuff from R A. In fact I don't even shop at Adv., AZ, or Or's unless I just have to have it now. Even most of my clients will wait to save $$$.

Bushings wear out. Used parts can be a huge savings, suspension, brakes, and steering should be excluded.
