I have a 99XLT V6 OHV that was sitting for about a week over the holiday season. During that time a squirrel decided to make a nest in my engine bay & have babies, while doing so it chewed up some of my plug wires, two wires near the ignition coil and the wires going into a plug attached to the front of the ignition coil. Now it is misfiring real badly. I reconnected the two wires near ignition coil and checked to make sure wires were producing spark. The small black clip with one wire attached is a mystery to me. I cannot see the part number on it as the rodent chewed it up. Does anyone know if this would cause a misfire? Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture of the damage.

Did you start the truck with the squirrel still under the hood?

It seemed a little clean for having a squirrel recently ripped apart inside...

Yeah, I drove from my house to work on I75. It was missing a little on the way there, but I thought it was a little off because it was so cold. At lunch time I went under the hood to see if there was a loose wire and found a really pissed squirrel looking me dead in the eyes. It ran under the engine & I thought it was gone. I removed the nest and some cooked baby squirrels then I found the damage. I worked on fixing the wires for an hour and put my explorer back in the garage because it was missing real bad at this point. The next morning I opened the hood and found the same squirrel in the same place but dead this time.

Ah I-75. Memories. :) When I was in the scouts, we had bbq squirrel over a campfire. Not bad. Good luck with the repairs.

Does Gainesville Ford still suck? I bought a new 01 Focus and wound up going to the Lincoln Mercury dealer for service because they were so bad.

I did my best to describe this plug to them and the only thing they could come up with was it has something to do with the radio. I have never seen any radio parts attached to the ignition coil.
