stalls when put in reverse

a friend of mine has an 05 sport trac that stalls when put in reverse and after its warmed up when u come to a red light it trys to stall. i searched the forum and it looks like its that sprag/ oneway clutch. sometimes after a cold start it will work fine but once it warms up it stalls when u give it gas in reverse. does the valve body control the sprag clutch or has it just failed. also could it maybe be the tcc

no the dealer changed it and it didnt help.

Check your trans fluid level...

already swapped it with mine and no difference even unplugged it to run in limp mode. nothin changed

thanks joe i shoulda thought about that. i had a 91 f150 with an e4od and it had the exact symtons except i could sometimes get it into reverse. but yeah that was the problem with it but i couldnt remember what i did to fix it til now. i will check it out.

not that lucky. i pulled the filter off to check the o rings and they were fine. put it back topped it off still nothing

UPDATE!! I got it going. It was the epc solenoid I swapped it out with mine and it works. Its been working fine for over a month now. Thanks for all the replies.

My 2002 sport tract jerks and stalls when I put it in reverse then it dies..... Doesn't do it in Drive. Any ideas what this could be?

Ty......I'll check the transmission fluid.... But it is getting worse and just dies in Reverse..... It's a Sport Tract 4x4
