I have a 95 XLT .. Truck has been flawless for a year or soo ... trans was rebuilt 7 months before i bought the truck ...

this morning i got home from work ... had NO problems driving 45 min home .. no shakes ,shutters, slipping ... nothing ..

I park the truck .. go inside .. sleep for a few hours .. get ready to pick up my son from the babysitter ..

start the truck ... no problems ... put in rev. .. stalls .. start back up ... put in drive .. stalls ..

PLEASE HELP ... this is my only means of transport .. is there something simple like a tc lock up i can bypass or something ...

Thanx Derrick

Didnt try that yet ... I did cut the purple w/yellow wire for the Lockup control ... tried it and now it will stay running in gear but it goes nowhere and makes a weird noise ...

Yes ... and No change ....

Whats my next step ???

Ok
let's back up a step-
when you first switch the key on, do you see a check engine light?

Is the check engine light on when the truck is running?

If yes and no, have you cleaned the Maf sensor?

Jt...I think you're barking up the wrong tree on this one. Ah hell...maybe you aren't and I am. But this really sounds like a tranny problem. Is the OD light flashing?

CEL functions normally ... no OD light flashing

Basically it's not throwing codes ...

It sounds like your torque convertor is locked up so when you put it in gear....it stalls.

This could be a number of things. Could be:

a valve body gasket issue (high possibility)
a bad or malfunctioning TCC solenoid (high possibility)
a spool stuck in the TCC bore (lower possibility)
a bad or internally damaged torque convertor (medium possibility)

In order of ease and expense, I'd pull the VB and check the gaskets... and of course replace them either way. If the gasket is ok I'd replace the TCC solenoid. Put it all back together and torque it properly and see if your problem is fixed. If not, then it is likely the Torque convertor. That means dropping the tranny and just the labor is expensive or a PITA.

While ordinarily I do not like to throw parts at a problem the TCC solenoid is a replacement item eventually anyway so it would not be a waste to do that even if it does not result in a fix.

It could also be the PCM, but that is highly unlikely. However, where you cut a wire and it now disengages, that does come to mind. The PCM looks at a lot of things like VSS, brake signal, etc to determine whether or not to disengage the TCC.

Ill try Glaciers steps next weds. ... im working straight till then .. thats my next free day ..

any clue where i can get that solenoid from ?? and what gaskets do i need ??

Update .... I havent dropped the pan yet ...

I did go to try and move it again .. this time she started up .. ran .. i put it in gear and it stayed running but it shutters a bit .. doesnt really move .. it wants ALOT of RPM
