Well, after looking through the information that I have, it looks like the 1st gen 4.0 wiring can be reduced massively. If I am looking at this correctly, I simply need the engine wiring (duh), the ECM, and 2 relays: first one to turn on the ECM and the second one to turn on the fuel pumps. This way I can get rid of that insanely huge distribution box that came with the harness from the donor 93 "X". Anybody split one down this far? I am looking to do this install in my 84 Ranger, and I really do not like the thought of all of the extra wiring just "hanging around".

I don't have any help for you, but I' interested in your stand alone project. Which one are you using? and what was your motivation? Finally, how far have you come in two months? Got pics?

I have another thread going about this over in the BroncoII forum, if you would like to look into it. I still need to take pictures of this, draw up the schematic, list the things that tripped me up and so forth. The thread is titled " Almost done with the 4.0 swap, but "
