Started on some Gap Guards today-

Did you put anything on the bottom to keep it from flapping around or just the rivets? Not too worried if its thin just trying to keep some dirt/mud from getting in the engine bay.

I looked at some 1/4" thick stuff but that was so heavy I think it would pull too much on the plastic wheel well.

Ya 1/4" is a little thick, probably a little too heavy.

Ya, I just riveted at the top, and it just hung at the bottom. nothing ever really touches it, so you shouldn't have to worry about strength too much - 4 rivets per side probably work.

Did it keep it any cleaner you think?

I saw someone else use some pond lining stuff from lowes/home depot. That seems like it would work. I'm having tons of trouble trying to find rubber sheets. Whenever I ask a store if they sell them they act like only a crazy person would need rubber and they say no...hmm, maybe I am a crazy person. haha

Be sure to get the rubber-type lining, and not the plastic material though. The plastic will melt first.

I think if I had been going through mud / slush that sort of thing yes - but it's been so dry and hot around here, especially since I put them on - the dust and dirt don't really stick to the engine. Haven't really had a chance to 'test' them, I guess lol

ive had to take mine out. you can probably go to your ford dealer and buy some. probably a tiny bit more expensive but its oem and you know its supposed to be there.

Best option.

Maybe I'll pass on it. And wait and see how clean the bay stays for now. I've got an oem one piece for each side but it only covers the front third of the engine.
