starter problems

Hi everyone, I first want to thank those who helped me with the fuel pump problem i had with this 96 ranger. but now the starter will not engage the motor, it trys but i may be wrong but belive the bendix is not engaging. I cannot find the starter location to get it off..can someone tell me where this is...ty

The starter will be on the back bottom of the engine, right up against where engine meets transmission, either driver side or passenger side, depending on what engine you have.

Thank you for your help, I did find the starter on the passenger side,,as of right now still cannot get it off...do you know if its metric bolts non of my sockets will fit it

I think mine is 1/2", but I don't remember for sure. What engine do you have, the 4.0?

not sure the bolt size, but its a 2.3 motor,,I did get the bolts out but now i'm having a time getting the wires off the starter. there is a red plastic cap on top of the wire bolts and a wire with some kind of plastic clip,,still working on this..but I do appriciate your help
