You telling us a brand new Bosch starter is bad out of the box? Something fishy

How did you bench test it?
You said you ordered the starter on the 18th that was a week ago how can it be a week late?

Battery with jumper cables. Same as I tested the other one.
Not doubting, ive had a starter quit and of all things it was the cable that went from the battery to starter.

So you feed the body of the starter a ground and the large post of the starter a +
And then a small
Jumper from the +
Cable to the little terminal of the starter?

That round thing on your starter is a starter solenoid

For specifics i put the negative cable on the housing of the starter and the positive on the post not wired into the stater and jumped it with a screwdriver. It made the sae noise as it did in the vehicle.

Exactly. I installed it first into my Explorer right out of the box. When i turned the key over the truck made a buzzing sound. I checked all fuses and relays. Everything looks good. No blown fuses. So i removed the starter and tested it. Made the same buzzing sound aut did in the the Explorer.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! Got home from work today, decided to look at the bew starter again and noticed arc marks on the starter case. The hardwired metal wire had a metal gromet that was touching the stater case. Flipped the wire around and boom starter worked. However upon bench testing the same thing happened as my previous starter. The bendix soun but did not engage. I put it on the explorer and it fired right up. Makes me wonder if the remanned one didnt die but maybe had a poor connection? Im gonna let this one ride for now but plan on mng some connector changes if this happens again.

Thanks again for all the help.
