93 XLT
Hey guys, I have a 93 XLT 5-speed. Since I have owned the truck i have had this problem twice. My connection on my starter seems to be coming loose or something. I checked my battery connections, and the connections at the soleniod thing on the fender. The first problem was a loose connection on the starter ground, but now it has happened again. The starter is new and I doubt there is anything wrong with it. When I turn the key it clicks, so the soleniod is getting power. The clutch interlock is working because when I don't press in the clutch there is no power. Any ideas?

give the starter a good wack with a hammer and try again it it works you might want to replace the starter.
if you have a way to test amp draw then test the circuit with it first

Carefully inspect the cables again. While connections can appear to be good, the wire under the plastic coating can be corroded (green) and cause your problem.

I have used an ac clamp on meter to successfully get a read on the amperage draw though it is not 100% accurate since this is a DC electrical circuit but you can make some good readings. My $ is on a bad cable and your engine ground can also fail adding to the cumulative effect. Use a DC volt meter (I prefer a digital for this test) and take a voltage drop reading on your main cables from end to end with current flowing.

Thanks..I'm gonna try testing the circuit
