Ok I need opinions,

I can get Kicker L7 and a custom box for $650.00 Canadian or A JL stealth box with a W3-V2 but I have to order it and its 50 bucks more. I haven't heard the W3 or the L7, I am going tonight to hear the L7 in the same size box as the custom one will be. No one around here has any W3-V2s so I cant even hear them.

Oh and it's going into a 03 Ram QC so space is limited

Thanks

$650 is what in US currency?

I would most likely go with the JL. But make sure the dimensions of the box will fit in your truck.

just a heads up, i run 3- jlw0's in my truck and thay pound like crazy // i find that the w3, dont have the same sound and are not worth the buck.
on another note, depending on space, jl's like there big boxes, so look and mesure before you order

i think $650 CAN. is probably quite a bit in US currency, and to me that is just flat out ripping you off for a custom box. if i lived near you i would build you a custom PORTED box and make it fit where you wanted it to for about 1/4 the cost

It's in Canadian funds, so about $485 USD,

way too much in my opinion, unless they are doing fiberglass or something of that nature

Thats for the sub and box so the sub.

the sub is a Kicker L7

L7

ok i didnt know that....i thought that was just the price of the box.....i still think its just a tad too steep, it doesnt require much effort and thought to build a custom box, if its a sealed box its even easier, the ported ones you have to calculate a few more things

if your in toronto, you should find a way beter deal then that.

if not let me know, as my buddie is a jl dealer, and boxes are noting to big, and ill hook you up,
and im only just over 1 hr away

Also........please DONT BUY FROM CRUTCHFIELD! that is THE most expensive place to buy from, im sure if you are in Toronto there are plenty of audio stores there where you can purchase the sub

the guy wants $410 for the sub and $250 fro the box . I would attempt the box my self, but it's not just a simple rectangle box. I dont know how to calculate the CU FT. and it will be a sealed box
Crutchfield won't ship to canada

well the JL box IS fiberglass

If you want to see how a custom box would be made, check out this link:
Rich's CAt Tunes school for audio guys

Go to the photos of a 1994 Explorer, and they make a custom box, very much like the JL. The advantages of the JL Box are: a bit more cubic space than the box this link shows, and you don't have to do anything.

I vote try it out yourself first, with someone who knows something about boxes. You may spend 20% of the cost of the box on materials, and who knows.... you may come out with something comparable.

Good luck.

Karl

PS I love my JL, so if you're looking for a reccomendation, I'd get the stealth.
