Steering Rack & Basecare ESP

Anyone have experience dealing with their ESP (specifically Basecare) and the steering rack replacement?

My rack just crapped out, the dealer originally thought the battery just needed to be replaced and then charged me for that…. The brochure and coverage in my contract state that the below are covered items.

• Steering Gear Housing, Manual and Power (Including all Internal Parts)

Wondering if anyone else went through this and what, if anything was covered.

If you are the original owner, did you get a safety recall on this?

I'm not aware of anyone having it covered under the BaseCare ESP but then some members just mention ESP and not the type.
Your dealer should be able to tell you.
