Anybody know if the output shaft for a first gen transmission is the same as one for the 2nd. gen?

I need to send mine to Stak to make a transfer case for me & don't want to be without mine for too long.

I would think so, everyone (including myself) take a first gen 1354 and puts it in there 2nd gen truck:dunno:

Well thats just the spline part, whats upstream of the tailshaft housing could be different.

To be honest, Glacier would be your guy since he's worked on both, but he's been busy lately :(

I just swapped the internals form a 5R55E into an A4LD case. the newer output shaft even had the gear for a speedo cable that wasn't needed in the '98 model that I took it out of. I guess ford chose to not modify the output shaft, so one size would fit all.

.....jjf
