No Mounty no more.
I have a 1997 Mountaineer with the 5.0 with 140,000 miles. When I take off from a light or let of the gas and coast I have to tap the gas pedal pretty hard to get it to move. It does not stick at part or full throttle and it always returns to idle.
I have lubed the cable at the throttle body and ut has helped a little at best.
Does anyone know where it is hanging up at or is it just worn out?
Thank You in advance for your input.

Perhaps try removing and cleaning the throttle body? It could be sticking in there. Also try lubing anything on the pedal side.

I had the same problem... cleaning the throttlebody fixed it...

There is an "inside recall", meaning they (Ford )will only do it if a customer camplain, on sticky throttle body for 97/98.
fix is a free, brand new throttle body assembly.
If interested i could give you the "recall" #.

Luc.

is that recall only for the 5.0?

Is the recall only for 97/98?

Is there a good on;ine source fro recall info?

Bob

My 94 does the same thing. Maybe if I get ambitious I'll clean it.
