You are going to have to do lift rather than gears to fit 33's.What gears do you have now? 3.73's?...And Gears are not a place I would try to go cheap on.

what are your stock gears? if you have a 4.10 you dont need to change, and if you have 3.73 you can get away without changing it too. the lift i would suggest is a 2" torsion twist, add-a-leafs, and shackles, and a 3 inch body lift. good luck:D

Yea....what he said. I am getting ready to do my body lift so I can run 33's. I have the 3.73's and don't think it will be a problem.
It is definately not a problem if you have 4.10's

i don't know what gears i'm running right now would that be in the manul i'm really new to this i'm 15 and just getting into this kind of stuff but i finally got my licens but i'll look for them and post what they are thanks guys yall are lots of help how much would the 2" torsion twist, add-a-leafs, and shackles, and a 3 inch body lift run on the market? how do u find out what gears u are running?

TT...free, but need an alignment afterwards.

3" body lift......$130

AAL........about $30-$35

Shackles...........Werent they $50 or $ 60?,I can't remember.

Oh yea, gear ratio: look on the tag on the door jam on the driver side. it will give you an Axle code. Or look on the rear diff...it has a tag that says something like 3L73.
That would be 3.73's limited slip.

Thanks alot guys this is tons of help to get me started and with 33's will it fit in the garage and do yall know of any web sites that sell all of this stuff?

ok i found the axel code but it's look like greek to me i'll go write it down and post it be back in a few

ok now i'm not sure what to make of this on top of the bard on the sticker it says RC:52
AXEl
46

sry for the spelling am i looking in the right place?

No problem..thats exactly what I got for my 99. I just got it a few months ago myself. I can't wait to get a clear/warm day free so I can put the body lift on.:D cuz my tires will be here next week.

If you cheap out and run 33's and 3.73's with the explorer's auto tranny you are in for drivetrain problems later on down the road. As a minimum, you should have 4.10's for 33's.

thanks for that lil info becuase i was thinking of getting the 33's haveing them on there for like a months and still putting new gears in just incase i wanted to go bigger
