STOCK EXPLORER! WHERE TO BEGIN?

I've got the 50 series flowmaster on my "X" and it is not lowd as hell. It is a very nice low rumble at startup, and it sounds very nice at idle. The only time I really notice it is at WOT. It is not that much different than stock. Your parents might think that they got a very small hole in the muffler. It exits in the stock location, and hangs in the stock location. It is easilly bolt on. I did mine in 45 minutes, and that was being distracted by people buggin me while I was doing it. Its not much different than stock (as for sound and looks) but it does help your engine breathe. It helps power a lot too.

I think it would be a bad idea to try to make my parents think that there's a small hole in the muffler. See, if they think there's a muffler, there's a possibility that they'll tell me to take the car into the shop to get that fixed. And that'd be bad. So I don't know about that.

On a different note, I figured out what I'm going to do about my intake system. I have a KKM True-Rev Sport Induction Kit in the mail! Woohoo! It's my first mod! Yay! It should get here on like Wednesday, so it should be on by Wednesday or Thursday, next weekend at the latest. I'll keep everyone updated.

Congrats on ordering your first performance part! You are screwed now, as you'll be buying parts everytime you have some extra money, or if you are like me, you'll learn how to use credit cards quite often. :D

it looks like you already got the kkm but for those of yall who dont because you cant affford it heres what did, i went down to a ricer shop and got a k&n cone filter for 30 bux, i then got a flange that makes the filter mount up to a nissin maxima(i think) MAS for like 10 bux, i then went to home depot got a small piece of lexan for about a dollar, i cut and drilled the flange to about the same size as my MAS and cut the lexan to make it an adapter to seal the nissan flange flush with my MAS. then usin some small bolts i bolted it together, and Voloa! (i aint french so i dont know how to spell it) i got basically a kkm for a little more than 40 bux

BTW-if you can affor the kkm go for it cuz there isnt any custome fabricatin envolved, if your poor like me and have a saturday to kill then you can try what i did.

Yeah, everyone's saying I'm going to be addicted now. But I'm OK with that. I already have ideas about my next mods :D

And for my very first mod, I think I'm going to stick to ordering from a company. I don't think I've made it to the built it yourself level yet.

Hey, that last post by 2001gtboy was actually supposed to be me. I was on his computer and forgot to change the login name. So just pretend it was me. It makes more sense now

There are a bunch of mods that are not viasble from the outside that help add power and gas milage:

-Borla cat-back exhaust (nice low growl...not too overbearing...can't even hear it at highway speeds)
-K&N drop-in filter ~$40
-BBK 66MM Throttle body
-on your 94 I think they have a larger MAF sensor also available
-also while your messing withthe exhaust, high flow catalytic converters would do nothing but help.
-maybe a set of headers if you really want power
-if you have $2750 to spend a supercharger would be awesome!
-superchip
-Bosch +4 spark plugs and Bosch premium wires
-also if you plan to keep the vehicle a long time and want the absolute best gas mialge after these mods, then replace all your oils with synthetic Amsoil fluid. I run synthetic in everything, plus have a handful of the above mods and have considerably more power and i average 19-20 MPG combined driving (400 miles per tank)

Good luck!

That sounds like a good list to work off of. My first 3 things are going to be the KKM intake system (which I've ordered), an MAF, and a K&N filter. Those 3 are pretty much right off your list. When you say they have a larger MAF for the '94, who's they? Is they Ford, or is it just the aftermarket world in general? Because I'm looking at the Granatelli MAF, it seems alright. Do you have one? What kind? I'm not going to really mess with the exhaust. At least not yet. Maybe sometime in the future. The supercharger sounds good, except for the $2750 part. The others we might someday see in the future. Thanks for the list!

WHen I say "they" I mean aftermarket places. I use truckperformance.com to buy my BBK TB and they were great. I even have a discount code for them. The code expires Nov 5th (tomorrow) so hurry...lol.
You also get free shipping through tomorrow

Here is what you put in for the coupon code:
customer ID: FALLSALE
Coupon code: 86749

good luck man!

Also no I don';t have a larger MAF since on the 95 I have a round filter box and the MAF is inside the box, thus not able to be made larger

Thanks for the code, but I think it's a little late. I am going to check out the site though. And that sucks about the MAF. There's gotta be something you can do though, no?

Well, the desing of my MAF isn;t restrictive, so I;m not worried.

I checked the truckperformance.com site yesterday, and they have the Granatelli Motor Sports MAF (the one I was looking for) for about $20 less than anywhere else I've seen it, and with free shipping. So I think I'm going to order it soon. Thanks for the tip! And by any chance, do you know of any other coupon codes or anything like that coming up?

SOrry I don;t have any other coupon codes...you could give the one I listed above a shot for the heck of it, but i doubt it'll work. ANyway good luck and if you have any questions feel free to contact me at my e-mail as I check that more frequently.

Alright, cool.

Thanks for all your help

I GOT IT!!!

For those of you out there who were keeping track of this thread, I want to let you know that my KKM system came today and we installed it and it's great. I could feel the difference right after we put it on. The car's performance has improved incredibly. I can barely believe it. Thanks for all your help guys!

P.S. Next item coming is a Granatelli Motor Sports MAF. ;) Yep. I'm addicted

I am about to install either the Borla Cat-back system or the Gibson Cat-back system on my '97 Explorer.

I am wondering if any of you guys have installed it and does it do any good.

Thanks for the imput.
