1999 Explorer Sport
Hi, I drive a beautiful black '99 Explorer Sport and I've been looking to replace those ugly yellowish stock fogs to match the Piaa xenon bulbs (hid lookalikes) that I've already installed in the headlamp sockets. The owner's manual lists the fog bulbs as a size "899" and unfortunately, I've been unable to locate any replacement bulbs for that size. Does anyone know if 899 corresponds to say H-3 or something like that? If not, I'd appreciate it if someone knows where to buy replacement bulbs for the fogs and could forward me that information.
Thanks again,
Marc Everett

Marc, 899's and H-3's are not the same. There was an aftermarket company that someone found a couple of months ago that had xenon or hyper-white 899's (did a search, and can't find the thread), and that is the only company I have heard of that had them. I don't know of anyone using them, or about the quality of them. In order to get mine to match, I replaced the whole light with PIAA's. I would much rather pay the extra $$ for a quality product, and know what I am getting. Sorry I couldn't be of more help at this time, but iI will keep my eyes open for that site.

I'm having my aftermarket Piaa's installed tomorrow in the scoop under the license plate frame so they'll be pretty close to the factory fogs. Depending on how powerful the piaas will be, I may just leave the factories off and the piaas on.. but if they're going to draw too much attention and blind too many innocent drivers, that idea won't work. Thanks for your help.
