- 2003 Mountaineer V8 4.6L
Can you please recommend a good stop-leak product for a 2003 4.6L V-8 Mountaineer with about 120,000 miles on the clock. It's leaking coolant into the oil. No codes or white smoke from the tailpipe. It's losing coolant when the pressure exceeds 13LBS at the degas bottle as confirmed through a 24 hour pressure test. No outward signs of how the coolant is getting into the oil. It's my son's college truck, and he's away in college now. I've been trying to diagnose it for some time now, but no luck. The value of the truck has lowered to the point that a teardown fix for heads, etc outweighs the benefit of the repair, so I'm willing to give the stop leak a try if it will extend the life of the truck another year or more. Over spring break, I plan to give it a shot, as well as try once more to find the leak without removing heads, etc but so far that has proven fruitless.
Thanks,
