I have a 2004 Explorer XLT Sport with a 4.6 V/8 engine. My problem comes and goes. Once in a while with no warning I go to start it and the battery is dead. I initially replaced the battery and cleaned the battery cables .That gave me a couple of trouble free weeks. I went to start it again and it rolled for about thirty seconds slowly but it did start but I noticed the dash cluster did not function for about 15 or 20 seconds and when it did come alive the trip meter was down to zero as if I had just reset it. After that it was fine for another 2 or 3 weeks and then again it acted as if the battery was dead. but I had the battery load tested and it was fine but it seemed to be very corroded again and I just finished cleaning them again and it starts like new.
