Strange noise when putting in park

Hello everyone. I have a 96 4x4 X sport w. 77 k miles. Six months after I bought it the tranny blew. I got that fixed up and things have been fine until recently when I shift the car into park to shut it off, I get a terrible whirring noise(not every time)that if i give it a little gas it will go away. We recently got some snow and I put it in 4x4 today and it sounded like that noise was happening when i was driving. Is my transfer case now going? Has anyone heard of this before?
I need some advice, because Im tapped out on the money Im going to put into this vehicle. If its something major like the trans. case, Im selling it and buying a Chevy.

take the little black cap off the iac valve on the side of the inake it fixed mine from doing that
