Hi all,

I'm a fellow Ford enthusiast and I'm new here... I have been searching around on this site a bit gathering info for my new driver/project... I recently bought a 96 V8 2wd that I plan on turning into a nice sport truck... So far I have painted the bumpers, grill and trim body color, 18in wheels & tires, lowered 1.5 front 1 inch in the rear, Bilstein shocks and that about the extent of what I have done so far... However I plans of a slew of mods which include a built motor and most likely supercharge it... I have already found that the rev limiter and speed limiters are going to need to be moved way up! Does anyone have a chip that can take care of this? I read that Hypertech has a PP3 listed for a 96 explorer V8 anyone using one of these? Anyways, I look forward to exchanging information and hearing about your sport trucks!

Nice truck. Keep up the good work. As for the chip, I am not sure about it. Oh yeah, glad to see that you put 18's on it instead of 17. If it was me, I would put some 20's on it.

Icepick, welcome aboard! I like how your explorer looks too!. As for the hypertech programmer, I'd go for it! A lot of people on here go with Superchips, you can get it custom made towards whatever mods you are going to do. If you want to see a monster proformace explorer then, you want to talk to a guy on here named "Troll". He has a '96 explorer that been converted to a 347 with a supercharger (I think NOS too)....awesome! You can see it at his web site at www.speedfreak.cc

Thanks guys! Yes, I have seen the infamous Troll Explorer and that is one wild ride... Pretty cool... I wonder what it runs in the 1/4? Anyone else out there know about this Rev & speed limiter deal?

if you give me you code i can tell you wether i can get you a chip to raise the reve and speed limitor. the code will be four digits like SLL1 or ROT2. let me know or email troll.

The gears are stock 373's... That's one of the things i like about this truck as it comes with alot of good stuff stock i.e. gears, tranny, heads, intake etc....

i do belive i have sll4 so i can do a chip for you.

I sanded all the chrome with 400, Shot it with epoxy primer then top coat/clear coat... I have done a few bumpers like this and it holds up pretty well as long as you take care of it... a better way to do it is to have all the chrome striped then use the same method above...
