Hello I am new to this board. I have been reading post modified X's. I have 93 Xploder that has limped to its death. I have been researching 5.0 conversions and have a good knowledge.

Can I put a 5.0GT 89-93 in a 4WD 93Xploder without a suspension or body lift? I have a 2001 Wrangler rock crawler so I want to keep this one on the ground if possible. I dont want it higher or lower other than the 100lbs difference the 5.0 will make on the front end which I intend to correct.

Oh and b4 anyone says the search is a great thing I tried that. LOL.
Thanks.

Yes the 5.0L will fit in the 93 ex without a body lift.

Y ou will want to use some motor mounts that keep it low, you will also need to do some trimming or adjusting to the firewall...bellhousing hump, but it will fit.

I believe a company called L&L makes the motor mounts of choice (keep it low to the frame)

Keep searching, this has all been covered, and GOOD LUCK!

Its no easy conversion, usually the cost is about double what you estiamte when all is said and done.

You can save yourself ALOT of $$ buy scrapping the 89-93 GT idea and getting a complete 5.0L drivetrain from a later model Explorer or Merc......

To help you out with the motor mount situation.... (summit mag)

Hell yes this is the kind of info I like the little details about keeping it close and the summit mag. Say If I were to need to lift something not for offroading just for clearance of the 5.0 would it be the body or suspension?

body, you shouldn't need to though.

Hey guys... rxthc...I'll apologize in advance. I don't mean to hi jack your thread, but I think we both can benefit from the knowledge here. With that being said...here we go. I have a '95 and have starting doing the research. I was told a few days ago that I might have serious difficulties with a conversion-mainly with the potential wiring situation. I know the engine will fit, without much difficulty, but once the dash is removed and wiring begins, it could be trouble. I have read many posts on engine swaps, but I haven't seen much on a 2nd gen x swap. I have a 2 door 5sp.

Ya'll both are in about the same boat beacuse you are both in an obd1 situation. All V8s in X's are obd 2. Basically you should try to find a wrecked ex with a 5.0 that you can basically take most if not all of the wireing from it and swap into yours.
