I am hoping for some help. I think i have a stuck caliper. I just got home and smelled an aroma like when one uses a grinder on metal. I walked around the truck using my to feel for heat from the wheels and notice the front one is very hot. I jacked it up and the tire spins really hard. Popped the tire off and i couldn't see no room between the brake pad and the rotor. I also had some metal flakes in the wheel itself. It seems to me like its the caliper. Is the best route to take it a part and check the slider pin or just replace it. I have been searching i was hoping to get some confirmation before spending any money. This is new to me since my buddy always did my brakes but i am hoping to them on my own this time.

Calipers are cheap, but before you do it remove the caliper and try to turn the wheel to make sure you don't have a wheel bearing going bad.:D

Check to see if it is your axle bearings as safn1949 said........then........
I have had the slide pins go bad and the caliper acted as though it was seized when in fact it was not.
Take the caliper off, open up the master cylinder, and use a C-clamp to slowly squeeze the caliper puck back into the caliper body. If you can't push the puck back into the caliper body easily, you found the problem and need to replace it (caliper). If the puck goes back into the caliper body, your problem is bad slide pins. Since I had issues with the pins on the rear, I now replace the slide pins every brake job. Buy the whole brake hardware kit for both sides. Stops problems later and for about $20 each its cheap insurance.

I think i may also have a sticky caliper not becuas eof smell but my expo seems to pull to the right when driving straight.

Cool beans. Thanks for the advice. my_pos_mounty and safn1949. I am going to try to work on it tomarrow and see what i find.

Well i finally got around to looking at my problem. I used a c-clamp on the caliper and pushed it back in fairly easy. put the tire back on after i took the pads and caliper off and it didnt make that annoying sound any more and bacame easier to turn. So i now think its probably the sliders. I also took the hub off and found some funky stuff around the bearing that looked like rotting wood but felt like clay.
