I'm looking for a little bit more base in my 03 Explorer, nothing that will make my windows shatter. I'm looking into two 12 inch subs.

Never built a sub box before but I'm a carpenter so I should be able to figure it out. Anyone have any suggestions for the inside of an 03? Has anyone thought of putting subs under the rear seats? Or how about in the extra compartment in the trunk of an Explorer that does not have 3rd row?

Anyone have any pics they want to share?

you just need to watch your airspace of the box that can make or break a system. you can build a false floor and use that as your box but it is a project hit me up if you need any advise with building the box. just use 3/4 MDF liquid nail and pre drill all your holes that you will be pulling screws in. also seal the inside very well i even like to spray under coating on the inside after i seal it

i built a box recently for my 02. It is for a single 12. I also do not have a 3rd row, so i made the box so that it fits perfectly behind the 40 side of the 60/40 rear seat. If you are not looking for much bass just a single 12 will prolly due. mine hits plenty hard enough to rattle stuff and now I'm chasing down all that rattles. The problem with putting the subs under the rear seats is that you can not fold down your seats anymore. Another trick to make the box sound better is to use stuffing inside the box. You can actually get away with a little less volume in the box that way. I used simple pillow stuffing. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

forgot about the poly-fill thanks jawillou poly-fill slows down the bass wave lengths so it works like a bigger box just don't fill the box it should be loosely in the box
