1997 Explorer XLT
Ok so i just moved my system from my 2002 focus zx3 to my 1997 Explorer XLT. The amp turns on just fine with capacator and the subs play but they are not nearly as loud as they were in my focus. Its 2 12' Alpine Type E with a 1000 watt amp. They hit hard in my focus and i can just tell they are not putting out the bass they used to. I bought and installed the exact same wire kit i used in my focus and its the same headunit. The only thing i noticed was that my sosche explorer wiring harness had a turn on amp wire which i used to connect to my sony head unit harness turn on amp wire and then attached my amps remote wire to. Is it something i dont know about?

You've got a much larger area to fill now than you had with your ZX3.

Same thing Dan says.

You don't have enough wattage/displacement to achieve the same results.

My 12" subs hit 5db louder in my Ranger than my Explorer, but nothing was changed. I'm even using the same wiring OUT of the Explorer.

Upgrade your subs and amp to about double what your'e running now and it'll sound comparable to what you had before.

(doubling power usually results in 3db increases on top of current levels)
