Hey Everybody,
I just picked up my '01 Sport with the Audiophile Radio. I have a few questions. First of all, the Audiophile radio is supposed to come with 6 speakers plus the sub. I can only locate 4 plus the sub. Any thoughts. Secondly, has anyone ever replaced the Ford factory sub with an aftermarket one. Is the Ford sub a free air or is it in a sealed box? Is it driven by a separate amp? Does anyone have a Q-Logic box (like Crutchfield sells) that fits into the storage compartment in the back? This is where Ford puts their factory sub. Any help would be appreciated. I spent an additional $500 on the Audiophile radio and I am not really satisfied with it. Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the Audiophile system, since that cash could have covered your upgrades. But to answer your questions, I haven't been in the new Sport, but I'll tell you that sometimes the factory ads consider tweeters "speakers" as well. Well, I guess we all do, but when we think "speaker" we're looking for something a little bigger. A lot of the time, especially now, these newer audion systems in factory cars have tweeters that you can barely hear, so it'll be hard to locate them. The tweeters play just barely enough so you can't really locate them, but loud enough so your ears pick it up with the rest of the music. This is done to elevate the sound stage, since most of the speakers are aiming at your knees. They would most likely be somewhere like the dash or higher to help simulate the sound of speakers at a better position.

The Ford sub is a sealed one (driven by a separate, small amp), and tons of people on this board have those Stealthboxes. Just do a search for Q-Logic, MTX, stealthform, thunderform and JL Audio. Any of em will bring you info.
