Can anyone give me a suggestion for a DTC scanner that will display Transmission trouble codes?
I am not looking for a $3K scanner or anything like that, but i am having trouble determining if the scanners WILL DEFFINATELY work for transmission trouble codes. I have been to scantool.net, AutoXray, and AutoTap's websites... yet haven't seen one that lists trans codes:(
Any suggestions?

I bought software/hardware from www.obd-2.com to collect information from the various transmissions we've developed aftermarket solenoids for. Couldn't be happier. The website isn't fancy, but the software and hardware are pretty impressive.

Brooklyn even the scanners that can read manufacturers specific codes cannot always get all transmission codes...at least in my experience...

And the price is not bad either. from your experience, does the software come with the hardware?

I tried going to the website but it has no pic of the hardware. Any Pics?

Does anyone actually own the ElmScan 5 USb from Scantool.net.

If so what do you think about it?
Is it worth the cost?
How much did you pay at the time of purchase?
What software are you using?
What's your overall satisfaction?

thanks

The guy who runs it is a bit nutty but his product is amazing. For under $200 bucks you are reading ABS and Airbag, GEM, etc. I bought a cheap laptop just for this program and my service manuals. He also updates his software. It is not frills but it it could give a $2000 scantool a run for the money. On my 96 explorer it monitors about 800 ford specific PIDS!!!! THe graphing is truly amazing. Nothing PC based even comes close, unless you get a ford NGS.

Be sure to get PWM + ISO so you can read all the computers on your car.
