Does anyone run these tires? The price seems to be great (~$130 for 33x12.50) and being radials they should ride ok. I see people running boggers alot, but I haven't heard much on these. Any experience out there?

I had a set of those on my 89 Bronco. The ride wasn't the best but they did well in the mud. If you don't mind the humming from them I would get them.

Thanks Joe,
I don't mind the noise (my wife does...;))

My concern is how they will wear on the road. ride quality isn't an issue...

Jon

If you keep checking the air pressure and keep the allignment on the X within specs they will last awhile and wear evenly. The set i had on my Bronco were on there about 2 years and still had some decent tread left when I got rid of the Bronco.

TSL Radials is one of the best radial out there man! I've been runnin my 36s ever since I lifted mine. I absolutely love them. They kick butt in snow, mud, and I've had good luck so far in sand also.

Keep your Xs allignment good and I'm not to sure what all you do but air pressure is a major factor with these. I actually run about 18-20 psi all the time. Mine are wearing perfect.

Oh and one last idea for ya! If you do purchase the TSL Radials don't forget to have someone sipe the center lugs. It helps trust me!

Great! Thanks for the response.

I will be getting them in Sept/Oct. as I just bought a LS and some needed things for the house (play money is gone for a few weeks)

What does the siping do for you?
And what gear ratio are you running? I'm not sure if I want to spend the $$ for 36's or not, but I will have a 5.5" + 3" as you do. How do you think it would look with 33's?
Jon

What are the differences performance wise between the TSL's and the TSL radials? Studdedx, I don't know if you have this problem with 8.5 inches of lift, but how do the 36's stuff into the wheel wells? Do they fit, or do they rub at full compression? I was thinking of running 36's with my new 8" suspension lift, but wasn't sure if there would be enough room to stuff the whole tire in there, particularly in the rear, where there is not that much room to trim on a 4 door.

FMExplorer,
Siping the tire will give you better performance in rain, ice, and all that fun stuff. I'm currently running stock(3.27) I was running 4.88s. Runs good on and off road. Though I ran 4.88s for the power off road than the mileage on road.

Mudd*****,
I'm not to sure about the diffs between the two. I've never ran the TSL bias plys. As for stuffing these babies I can stuff these things pretty damn amazing though many people told me good luck when I asked if they thought I could run them or not. The rubbed on the back of the front fenders a bit. I only had to cut out maybe an inch and ahalf to clear them. I don't have any pics of me stuffin the front but heres one for the rear. I could actually stuff them a bit more than that to.

TSL Radials

So far I've got 12k on my 33" TSL's. Like everyone said, keeping things aligned makes a big difference. I run mine at 25psi front and 22psi rear. I have probably 80-90% of tread left and these are supposed to be 40k tires. So far they have been great in every aspect and I would definitely get another set when these run out. They are very smooth on the hwy and rural roads. A steering stab does help, but overall they are very smooth. I can run at 75mph without a problem, but you'll need ear plugs.Dead Link Removed

The difference between the SSR's and radials is the siping in all the treads, the lug spacing and depth. The SSR does not have as deap a tread, but the lugs are a little larger. They have a different side wall tread and are more road friendly. Cableguy had a set and said they were horrible off-road. The bias ply is more of an off-road duty tire. It does not have any radial layers, but does have more plys. If you are looking for a on and off road tire stay with the radial. I only have experience with the radials and they are awesome off-road and on.

You will not be disappointed!

It mainly depends on tire pressure. When I'm runnin my normal I rub on the inside of the wheel well. When I run 10 to 12 psi not a rub in the world.

Derrick,
You are running 3.27's with 36's? How are you taking off? Does your truck bog down a lot at low speeds on-road? I would love to hear I don't need to re-gear right away. Everything I have heard leads me to believe 4.56's would be a good ratio for 36's...

Jon

I started the solid axle swap and sold my lockers and gears and ran into a few problems along the way. I had to drive it once in awhile so I had to put back in the 3.27 gears. Its suprisingly not as bad as it sounds. I mean its not a race horse or a economy rig but it gets the job done.
Ya if you need gas mileage 4.56s would be perfect for ya. I just wanted power. I think if you can live with it you shoudn't have to re gear it immediately. In my own opinion though.

Great! I like the sounds of that. I wanted to do the gears, lift and tires all at once, but peer-pressure (Hank, Mdrut and Jyoung) has gotten the best of me. I'll end up doing the lift in a few weeks when my arm is a bit stronger, then tires, then gears.

BTW - how was the setup on the gears? Did you do the work yourself?

Jon

Na jon, I've got a friend that does my gears and lockers. Hes really good and fast.

How do you like the Mud Rovers that you have now??? Have they been a good tire??? That is one of the tires that I'm looking at right now, that and the TSL Radial... But I'm not sure what I want to do yet... Especially since I'm hearing that the TSL's run a little small... I want 32" tires...

For those of you that do have the TSL's would I be safe getting a 33" tire and still fitting where I'm actually hoping to stuff a 32" tire in???

You can fit a 33x12.5 TSL radial with a minimum of 4" lift.

After the bodylift, get the WP Shackles and then twist the Tbars up an inch you'll be fine.
