Hey I was wondering if any one has a set of Interco Super SWamper LTBs. I am getting new tires and would like some feed back. Also would they fit on a 1996 X with or without a TT/Shackle lift?
THANKS

I don't recommend the LTB because in is a bias ply tire. Bias plys can be very hard to balance and can be out of round. I have a TSL bias ply as my spare and it couldn't be balanced because of it being out of round. They are best used for off roading only. Bias plys also tend to get flat spots in cold weather.

If you want a Swamper, get the Swamper TSL radial. That's what I have and they balance really well if it is done correctly. These tires are loud and will only give you about 40k miles or so.

Swampers run a bit small so you might be able to fit 32's with the TT and shackles.

Should I just go with BFG MT. I have one question is there a good off-road tire that I can get good milage out of?

No.

If you want a high mileage tire then get an A/T like the BFG KO or Goodyear Wrangler. Personally I like the Bridgestone Dueller A/T.

I think i will just go with the BFG MT TA KM.

What are you looking for in a tire? The BFG MT KM has low ratings for both on and off road and almost no traction on wet pavement. I had a set. They also get around 40k miles.

THey really give you 40k? I wouldn't have guessed that high.. hmm... got me interested now

I'm gonna go against the recc for Dueller A/T's. A set came on my explorer when I got them and I hate them. They ride rough and create a good bit of noise. If you're to get an A/T, I'd suggest BFG's.

I will give another vote for the Bridgestone Dueller A/Ts, I had them stock on my Explorer(235/75R15) and they were great. Ran them through the summer and half of the winter before I got the BFG M/Ts and they were awsome in the rain, snow and gravel roads. Nice grip when cornering and stopping fast too. Best A/T tire I have ever had. I am actually replacing my 33x12.5R15 M/Ts for a set of 32x10.5R15 Dueller A/Ts now that I use the Explorer as a tow vehicle.

I havent heard great things about MT/Rs ive heard theyre overrated. I want to get some 33s for my next truck. Im pretty sure im gonna run 31s on the road but when i go wheeling ill run 33s. I want to get some super swampers or something badass like that. :)

Jason, I bought my TSL's at about 22k and now I am at 50k. Still have 1/2" of tread left. I did baby them though.

Brian, only heard good things about the Dueller A/T. I might get those or Geolander M/T's.

Namitey, Peterson's and Off-Road Mag did some comparisons on the MT/R and KM, the Xterrains were rated best.

Oh, BTW, if you like getting what everybody has, get the BFG A/T.

why are you not getting the swampers again? i'd love to get those but i don't think my wife would ride with me with them roaring down the road!
i've heard the yoko geolander m/t s wear really fast and that they have weak sidewalls. this was all from one person though, so you can't go on that alone.

about the xterrains and geolanders for that matter.. how does one go about using the spare with a unidirectional tire like that? do you just have 2? they look awesome though! i bet they work great!

ive heard that all yokohama tires wear really bad, and from more than one person. i have planne don gett ing the geolander m/t's as well but was severly advised against it.

the yokohama geolandar ATs suck... welll, they dont really suck, but you need to have them rebalanced and rotated every 1000 miles......and they are loud.......... i have heard that the geolandar mts are a pretty decent tire though......

I am mixed on the Geolanders, I hear more bad than good.

Why am I not getting TSL's again? I do more on road driving since I've moved and they are just going to waste. I am trying to be conservative and find a good tire for both on and off road. So far out of all the A/T's, I like the Bridgestone Deullers the best.

I have another 6 months to decide though so I am still looking.

I run BFG AT KO's. They work great on and off road. I haven't even gotten close to stuck yet, and I've been through some pretty sticky stuff. I will be getting some super swamper radials for my off road tires in the future, but right now these work great. Good luck

Andy

You haven't off roaded hard enough.

i was actually thinking of getting a set of swampers on some rockcrawlers and keep runnin ATs for daily use. that's a ways off still though.
wonder how the trxus M/T version of super swampers are? they look tighter and more road friendly, of course less trail friendly. anyone have experience with them?

btw matt.. are your swampers 10.5s or 12.5s?
