Supercharger install 9+lb boost! Full build

There aren't many items which could have any big affect that would trigger a lean condition etc. I would guess those are what Lasota might be thinking of mechanically. A vacuum leak, that's a big thing you do have to worry about at any time, at the install or a year later etc. I'd check all hoses regularly going to the intake, that's a given of course.

It might be best to get it dyno tuned and not through emails. Also, I can't remember, have you have logged fuel pressure during runs? Lastly, it is amazing how a person with an Autel, or equivalent, diagnostic reader/logger that knows how to use it can track down issues like you are having.

That's exactly what we did checked all the hoses
Plus a vac gauge on the dash reads -21

I went ahead and paid him for another tune
He sent me a very happy email and said thanks

Its so close
I think a may have messed up when I changed the air filter and moved the pcv hose to make room for the meth nozzle

I can't read fuel pressure with Forscan
So I used my fuel pressure tester gauge long hose and stuck it in the window wiper
The lean codes are from highway driving no wot
He has got wot setup minty
His email said 8-20% lean in the low end

if don is saying its mechanical, it probably is. also, have have had to deal with a few different tuners. he is the most patient of all of them. you have to remember, he deals with this on a day to day basses.

also amazes me he isnt a raging alcoholic

hope not
i cant find a problem
now i am not gonna touch it until he gives the ok

A dyno is going to give you torque and horsepower output over tuning with a laptop. I took my F150 build in to put on the dyno, the tuner liked my tune, I got a compliment and I got my output. It was already tuned great and I wouldn't spend the money to dyno my daily driver again. That said I enjoyed doing it once and it reaffirmed tuning capabilities.

I have heard of gaining 15 to 18 horses per pound of boost in a 5.0. I am wondering, you probably added another (5X15) 75 horses with this upgrade? 7lbs of boost would be about a 50% gain 10lbs? Who doesn't like that?

my ass dyno says uhhhh yes
to be honest i have no idea how much hp it is at

Is the lean condition occurring under a light/medium load where you have some amount of boost or under light load with no boost.

I'm not sure
He said loaded revs were ok but
Sent me another tune and said to do a idle .free rev . and loaded revs again
He wants to see if it changes overnight

I don't know what mojo he worked but he says its now above factory spec
We will see if the check engine light comes on
I asked him if I could install a cat back he said do it
So I'm gonna be busy this weekend
Walker sound fx Oem style cat back system I've been wanting to install for a while now its in my basement my factory exhaust is a little old and rusty

I thought you had done something with the exhaust already. The 4.0 came with a good stock system, though the one muffler and back, is limiting gains. For near 10psi boost, that's around a 10/15 displacement gain, so about a 6.5 liter engine size need. I'd just hope it's a better flowing muffler, it shouldn't affect the tune much at all.

A dyno tune allows the tuner to see how the engine is reacting under about any load situation and at about any RPM in real time, then make adjustments quickly and check the results immediately. Your case is not the norm.

I'm not even sure if I have a dino close to me
But lasota has it done
its mint
He wants me to send a log after I install the exhaust
" just in case "
I'm happy I paid him extra for his hard work
he did do the work
I like the relationship We have now and will be using his service again no contest

If you are satisfied then all is good. Kudos to Lasota for sticking with it to get things right and to you for acknowledging his extra effort and compensating him for it.

I disagree again with you again. One can see everything available on a dyno by datalogging. One can simulate different loads while driving, while datalogging, come back home to replay the log or create graphs of what is needed and then make tuning adjustments. I would argue that tuning in the real world vs on a roller is better, but I won't as you seem to know all this already.

I will call BS on you, it is very apparent you have not done much tuning and yet speak volumes to knowing what you do not.

You are basically saying that my one tune is the exception and everyone else who tunes with these devices needs a dyno tune?

BS! The Moates Quarterhorse, Tweecer RT, PMS, and SCT just work without a damn roller!

You get way too wound up on this stuff. Not everything I post is a personal attack on you. Had Don gotten a tune on a dyno he would have likely had the tuning issues solved in hours which would include trying various W/A ratios. I'm not saying he made a bad choice going the route he did as it ended well for him. It just took a while to get there.

Yes it did but well worth it

Got the final tune .....same tune just with the end user stuff on in the sct...
The last adjustment we made was the open loop setting was70% throttle now it 50%
New exhaust installed and approved by don lasota ....exhaust made no difference in the tune

Went and got new tires today
Found all the shop guys looking under the hood
Looked like kids getting busted on their faces
