I'm stuck between the two lifts. I like the coil over replacement of the torsion bars with the RCD, but I like the fact that the Super lift kit is specifically made for the X. Not to mention the fact that they both still use a drop down for the front crossmember, so I don't see the total advantage of the RCD. The biggest question is how hard is the RCD to install? I've read a couple of the install thread, but they pretty much are just pics of the finished trucks. Either way I'll be doing the install myself with maybe a budy. I have access to all the tools I could need, but not really to weld. I do have a couple of friends that I might be able to have weld reinforcement, but not during the install. As far as having a shop do it that is totally out of the question, it's just too much money after spending 1300-2100 on the kit alone. Thanks for any input you guys have.
Just incase someone decides to ask I plan on running: susp lift, 3" body, locked front and rear, 4.56 gears, cutting to fit 37"s

I wasn't aware there was a Rough Country lift for IFS. The only 2 made for it I know of is Superlift and Trailmaster. Personally the RCD kit rides like a dream compared to when I had tortion bars. You have a V8 so you will need a little exhaust modification. The passenger side lateral strut bar rides up against it. I havent modded mine but it does make a little noise some time. The only difference between installing this kit and like a superlift is you have a few more foles to drill and you have to weld in supports on the coil bucket. Look in my photo gallery for some of my finished pics.

You will have to upgrade tie rods if you go 37s. My 35s bend them everytime I go out and one time snapped one in half.

BTW Mountaineeragree just figurered out that we have to have a double carden front driveshaft with any front lift. When I put mine in with the expo front shaft it sounds like I am running boggers.

Thanks for the info, and I'm stupid I meant Super lift. How hard is it to weld in the supports for the coils? I'm not sure if I could get that done during the actual install. I have a double cardon front ds that came on the truck originally, but my F-150 front seems to have more angle than the original. Thanks again for the info.

Whoever is the moderator for this section can you rename this thread to "Super Lift or RCD" I appreciate it.

In the directions you weld the braces in close to last part of the directions. I found it easier by looking at pics and doing them first thing after a teardown while there was nothing in the way.

Hm, well that's going to be a problem for me. Do you think it would be possible to weld the braces before complete teardown? The reason I ask is that the welder I have access to is in a seperate section of the shop than the lifts and tools, and no I can't move the welder they have it sectioned off for safety reasons. Maybe I could have a shop just weld that part on for me. That couldn't cost that much could it? Oh well let me know your thoughts otherwise I might just go with the Superlift. Are their any other benafits to the RCD kit other than the ride quality?

With the front end softer it articulates pretty good with the swaybar disconnected. You could weld them on now if you want. You just have to move the brake line brackets back about 1.5" on each side. Oh another benefit of the RCD is the steel braided brake lines, superlift does not include.

Better than t-bars, I thought it was limited because of the upper ball joint?

Fantastic! That might be the deciding factor.

That is definatly a bonus since it needs to be done anyway, does it include both front and rear? Thanks again for all the great info. Great looking truck btw!

I thought it was the upper ball joint all the time too but is not the case with the RCD. What limits me now is the coilover. I have about 4" of droop from ride height.

It only includes front brake lines. I am still using my stocker in the rear, I just had to bend the bracket down.

Also look at the angle the upper arm is at, I dont think I will have too much premature wear like with cranked up t-bars.

I'll get some better pics of my support brackets when I get home and wash it off, its COVERED in mud right now.

Good to know, have you looked into braided lines for the rear?

What about the upper arm isn't it the CV you need to look at?

AS IT SHOULD BE!

I haven't had a need to upgrade the rear but there is a site online that will do the rear for around 60$ (Steel braided and extended)

The CV also wears but as much as I have seen t-bars cranked up I havent seen problems with CVs

Heres a video of me and a ranger with the 5" RCD, 3" Body and 35x14.50 boggers Muddin video

BTW the video is mirrored so everything looks backwords

Great vid, definatly looks like a fun spot!
