Suspension question

My 91 leans to the left slightly and it seems kind of mushy when it comes to response from bumps, etc... The suspension is not stiff at all and I was wondering what this could be? It almost seems like sometimes it "bottoms out" when hitting bumps. Could this be the shocks or leaf springs? I was also considering eventually doing a body lift so if I have to replace anything now would I have to replace those parts again if I do the body lift later on? Thanks

Would changing the shocks help this at all, or do springs get worn out over time? Also, when you change shocks should you change all four at a time or can you change, say the front or the back? Thanks

Probably the shocks. Rear leaf springs also lose their arch and begin to sag. You wouldn't have to re-replace anything after the BL.

What kind of shocks would you recommend for front and back? Not sure what would be best here. Thanks

Opinions on types of shocks are like aholes.............you know the rest. If your rig has gotten to the point where it is bottoming out, ANY name brand aftermarket shock will be a major improvement for you. Head over to your local auto parts store and get some Monroes, Gabriels, etc.

The leaning to the left is common in pretty much all Explorers over time. It is caused by the weight of the gas tank and the driver, both being on the driver's side. A quick fix to this is the swap the rear leaf springs from side to side, but eventually the lean will return.
