I don't know about the STS but I just put the Truxs MT's on my explorer about a month ago and I love them so far. The rubber is really soft though so they might wear out faster than most other mt's but what the hell I just though this might help since the rubber compound is probably the same.
Hvac keep me posted...they are in the running for my next tire along with the MTR, BFG, Xterrain, and others...
Price is the main reaosn they are up there on the list....
Jamie, I love the Truxs MT's I have now. I took the BFG's off to put these on and the MTR's off to put the BFG's on and I still like the Truxs MT's the best. Oh and anything with the name Pro Comp on it is crap in my opinion
hey, thanks for the replys wasn't expecting anything. i wonder y the trxus all terrain would would wear as fast if not faster than mud terrain anyways thanks again and keep me posted if u hear anymore...
The Jeep guys at Jeeps Unlimited walk and talk modifications all day long. I started a thread there to discuss the STS vs. the MT, and there will probably be 30 replies by tomorrow afternoon. Just stop back and forth there to see what is being said, and mark the thread down in your 'favorites' folder. This will hopefully answer any questions you might have about the tires.
Guy, listen to me:
I have a friend with a 1500 chevy on 38.5 radial STS. They do an amazingly good job in sand/dirt and are exceptional in the mud given their tread depth/design. The only problem is:
We thought they would wear really good and are really quiet but he probably has 20k on them and they need to be completely replace, like they are bald.
He will be getting radial tsl's since they seriously last just as long and are crazy in mud.
The STS looked tight on his though and have a cool sidewall but what I hear is if you go with super swampers new trxus line, get the MT not STS. If you live at the beach or in the desert the STS is a good buy but if not, shop around for something a little longer lasting.
Exactly my point, Pro Comp is just generic stuff. I ran the PC MT's on my F-150 and thought they were ok but I was 19 at the time and didn't know any better I also ripped a whole lug off one tire just driving down the hwy. with only 1000 mi. on the tires. I also like round tires now
I gotta few friends that run pro comps bro, they do ok. It's like Ford vs Chevy, your entire opinions are built on whether or not you got lucky enough to have a good experience with one or the other. I haven't seen procomps let very many people down. Besides that some people just really like the way they look, no hate man.
That is why the parts world sells so many different things, so we can all run what we like Yeah I used to install a lot of ProComp lifts at the shop I used to work at and I sorta formed my opinion around that too.

thanks for the link to the other thread i most definitely will keep my eyes on it...
Birdman
thank you also, without hearing from u guys about how incredibly fast they seem to wear for a a/t tire, i would have eventually got them. and it would be b/c it would last longer than a m/t i sure would've been
pi$$ed to have spent that extra $$ to save in the long run only to have them wear faster than my bfg mt's (which r holdin' up nicely) keep the opinions, experiences and the good convo. up
yes, alloutwar is correct, they did test the trxus mt in a 31x10.50. It basically matched the BFG MT in everything but price (BFG more expensive) but the BFG was a little quieter and went like 3 feet farther in the mud pit.
i got a set of 33X12.50X15 pro comp mt's and i just love them... yea they are about 145 each but they are quiet and grip great in the mud... never had a problem with them yet.... and if i was gonna buy a tire based on the test with the 31's bfg and truxs that 3 extra feet could mean gettin out of the mud or being stuck.... but thats just my .02
