My 94 explorer 4x4 4.0L ohv motor is going bad. I Have a 93 4.0L ohv I just rebuilt the top end on. Want to swap it but the 93 does not have the cap sensor like the 94 has. Can I just not plug in the connector on the harness or do I have to move the sensor from the 94 over to the 93.?

94 has to see the sensor so you have to move it.

Otherwise it may throw codes.

Can I place both motors at tdc and move it, Or does it require a little more finesse?

If I am not mistaken there is a special tool needed to put it back in sync where it belongs.

Engine needs to be at TDC and then the tool is used to keep the sensor in position while it is installed.

I found the tool at Autozone, but you can get them also off Ebay, I paid $25.00 for 5, but only the yellow one was for the Ford.
