i have a hayden electric on my 94 5spd
it cools way more than i need but its not an auto and is producing about 50 less hp than your sohc does
its rated to i think 190hp with a/c....i have upgraded my rad. to a 2 row
i dont know if your going to fit enough fan for it to work unless you get a smaller fan to fit in the lower drivers front of the rad to run all the time and then put the larger 16" fan on the back side that comes on when it needs it (like the a/c being on)
good luck in your search for a fan
Originally posted by CobraXP I know no one wants to wait on me, but I will have mine done somewhere around the end of November. I am working with a couple of guys at Barnett Perfrmance here in Atlanta to get the best fan that will also fit the best.
I probably won't have it totally done until then though (too many other projects going on). I'll post everything anyway then if anyone wants the info...
I am working on this at the moment (along with 50 other projects)... My metal fab guy is creating an aluminum shroud that will support two fans in a diagonal on the radiator. I will be going to an electric water pump also... I should have the shroud by Wednesday. I'll post some pics.
also, I am thinking that it should be fairly universal for us ploders...
Question to all those with an electric fan... how do you have it hooked up? Does it run all the time or to a thermostat?
i have 98 x 5.0 with an electric fan on it and it works great.....for any engine producing over 240 hp you need at least 3000 cfm to cool it....i now have about 350 hp and a fan that pulls 3000 cfm (and) i live in hot florida and have never had a problem even when letting the truck idle with the a/c on for more than 30 minutes when it is 90+ degrees out....the fan i used is the PERMA-COOL 16 inch fanthat pulls about 3000 cfm and only draws about 9.5 amps, compared to other fans that dont pull as much air and draw alot more amps....i also have it running off of a relay and thermostat that is ajustable to whatever you want and the relay is also triggered by the a/c so the fan will turn on when the a/c is on regardless of the temp....i dont have any pics but its fairly simple to do and cost about $120 or so....if ya need instructions to install let me know....hope this all helps good luck....
A bottle of water wetter would be a great idea. To handle the extra amps that the electric fan will eat up, I think a high performance alternator by Powermaster will be the best solution to that problem.
hello all hows it going has anyone tried the elctric fan made by flex light it comes complete with shroud fan i think 15 or 16" and a built in adjustable thermostat
i am going to buy one and try it i will let you guys know how it turns out just wandered if anyone else treid this fan out yet

I have an electric fan from a cadilac with the sidways v8. its exactly the size of my radiator on the 4.0 and has a built in shroud. I have never over heated and i beat the hell out of my truck....the fan moves somehting like 2600 cfm acording to gm and it also draws mad juice but it will keep it cool.
