SWAY BAR LINK RECALL

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering what are the effected vehicles for the sway bar link recall. I have a 97 Sport 4x4 that was built in March 1997 and Ford just told me it wasn't under recall. Does anyone know the manufacture date cut-off or VIN sequences that are involved. I never saw the letter so I don't have this info.

You can verify for yourself if yours has the weak links or not. Look for the 6" long bolts that connect your front sway bar to your control arm. There is one on each side and it is mounted vertically. Measure the thickness of the bolt. If it is 10mm then you already have the stronger bolts. If it is less than 10mm, then you should get them replaced.

Symptoms?

Anyone know what the symptoms of the problem are. I've been getting a loud metallic rattle from the front end and cannot find the problem. Exspecially bad when the outside temperature is low.
