My 92 started heating up to the L in the temp gauge. After checking the fluids I found what seemed to be black specs in the radiator.Thinking it was Oil I checked all the other fluids.Nothing except what looked like someone dumped a vanilla milkshake in the overflow tank.Thinking it was a head gasket I had it pressure tested and radiator too.Nothing.

So I started with a flush.Upon draining the radiator the fluid was just a dingy green,No sign of oil,But noticed there was quite a bit of sediment in the drain pan.The fan had cracks in all fins so was replaced. While in there I popped for a new T-stat and water pump.Everything buttoned back up no leaks. Now my gauge will slowly rise to the M then drop down. Then slowly creep back up to the M and drop. After about 10 min of driving it settles in straight up and down....Until I come to a stop. Then it SLOWLY creeps back and forth.Nothing seems to steady it.I have tried driving with the heater on and the AC no change.I have Burped it many of times. It seems to slightly postpone the problem but then comes back.Upon searching I have found that A) I have a cheap ass T-stat and should replace.B) Temp sending unit could be the culprit.

I know the engine is being cooled alright,But the dancing gauge is just aggravating as all get out! Any suggestions???

The temp sending unit is probably the issue but you might want to check the radiator cap as well as the fan clutch. Are you losing coolant?

No coolant loss and replaced the fan clutch with the new fan.So all in all New:Fan clutch,Waterpump,T-stat,and Fan blade.Other then the dancing gauge I couldn't be happier the way she runs.

Now the Pulsing brakes.....Thats another thread :)

New temp sender fixed mine when my guage was doing that. I had replaced the fan clutch, fan, radiator, all hoses, the sender and the thermostat.

Still fluctuated. Replaced the sender a second time and that did the trick. I had tapped the boot on to the first new one and had broken the tip inside on the sender.

Be sure the sender you buy has the exact same sized tip as the old one so the boot goes on easy.

Sender is on the left, has a single wire with L shaped boot.

For something that cost under $10 sure does cause alot of aggravation!

Thanks about the boot tip
